The Stories Go On!
The Artistic Legacy Team left to right Erin O’Connor Johnson, Vanecia Boone, Brenda Schleunes, Camilla Millican and Kay Thomas
Touring Theatre, now in its 39th year, is deep in the process of legacy building so that the iconic work of Founder, Brenda Schleunes can survive and thrive for years to come. The core of legacy building is the training of a new team of adaptors and directors to continue the theatre’s important work in its community as well as a plan to foster its growth.
After four years of seminar training, led by Schleunes, on the art of adapting literature for the stage, four female participants—Vanecia Boone, Camilla Millican, Erin O’Connor Johnson and Kay Thomas, have finished creating scripts for a four-story production entitled Interstate 10: Four Women. Built from short stories about very Southern women by Virginia writer, Kelly Cherry, this production was scheduled to premiere in Fall of 2020, but as with all theatre, its opening will have to wait buy diazepam by paypal until a healthy environment for live audiences returns. They have adapted their individual stories, they will eventually cast and direct them. But for now, here is Kay to read a small excerpt from her story Serious Love and Vanecia will share from her story The Starveling.
